Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM)
A technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) survey, also known as a bug sweep, is a procedure that entails thoroughly inspecting a space or facility to look for any hidden electronic listening devices, popularly known as "bugs," or other technical surveillance threats.
A specialised team of experts with knowledge of electronic security, surveillance, and countermeasures often conducts TSCM surveys. The purpose of the survey is to provide the client confidence and peace of mind regarding the security and protection of their private information from unauthorised surveillance.
A TSCM study may also include an assessment of the building's electronic and physical security systems, such as access controls, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems, in addition to the previously described phases. Interviews with key staff may also be conducted by the TSCM team in order to learn more about the facility and its security procedures.
TSCM surveys are frequently carried out in corporate offices, government buildings, embassies, and high-security areas including military installations and nuclear power plants. The survey's objective is to find any potential security system flaws or holes that might be taken advantage of by uninvited parties or organisations.

- Electronic detection: To find any electronic eavesdropping devices or other technological surveillance risks, the TSCM team will utilise specialised tools like radio frequency (RF) spectrum analyzers, non-linear junction detectors (NLJDs), and thermal imaging cameras.
- Analysis and reporting: The TSCM team will analyze the data collected during the survey and provide a detailed report that identifies any detected threats, along with recommendations for mitigation and remediation.
